Your eyes - how sad they look. How tinged with the redness that can only come from spending the night exhausting your tear ducts. Those dark rims - they must have been caused by sleepless nights that won't let up. Of nights spent staring at your ceiling, wondering where things went wrong.
Your eyes - how devoid of hope they are. How your usual sunny self has slowly dissipated. How shadows have slowly taken up the place where sparkles once took up residence.
I can see it in your eyes. You grappling with your reality. How much you would like to cling to your fantasies - of what has been and what used to be.
Goodbyes - they are not the hardest. It is usually the flashbacks that sting, that cut deep.
Your eyes - how they mirror my own.
